Jack Strand has a deep love and respect for West African culture, where djembe drumming originates, and is passionate about sharing its spirit of rhythm, presence, tradition and community. He discovered the transformative power of West African culture and djembe drumming during darker times in his life, which sparked his deep desire to combat loneliness and strengthen human connection.

Jack has been studying the djembe for six years, studying primarily under the Koné family from Burkina Faso, both in Denmark and in Ouagadougou.

Raised across Sweden, England, Germany, and Denmark, Jack brings a unique international perspective to his work. Being half Swedish and half American, his multicultural background fuels his passion for non-verbal connection and the power of rhythm to unite people.

Now, as founder and facilitator of Djembe Denmark, Jack is passionate about creating spaces where everyone feels they belong and can connect through rhythm.

ADMINSTRATION & WEB MANAGER + DRUM ASSISTANT

Laura Sonne manages our digital presence and supports as an assistant drummer during workshops. She has a keen eye for aesthetics and clear, catchy communication. Laura also handles administrative tasks and helps coordinate the team behind the scenes. She especially enjoys the playfulness of the drumming experience.
